Real Estate and The Environment

Asbestos, underground storage tanks, commercial & industrial property transfers....
You need an environmental firm to assist you with these issues.

Today's real estate market is largely influenced by environmental concerns. The extensive environmental liabilities resulting from leaking underground storage tanks, buried industrial waste, poor quality fill material, improper handling of hazardous materials, historic PCB usage, and spills have significantly changed the way business is conducted with regard to the ownership, management, and transfer of real property. Anyone having a financial interest in real estate needs to know potential environmental problems may involve them in expensive cleanup and lengthy litigation.

Paulus Hook Restaurants, Jersey City

Some of my favorites in Jersey City:

Japanese:
Komegashi - 103 Montgomery St., 201-433-4567

Italian:
Presto's - 201 Warren St., 201-433-6639

American:
Amelia's Bistro - 187 Warren St., 201-332-2200
(if you have a *small dog which I happen to have, this is a place where I can sit outside and keep Roxy, my Chinese Crested Powderpuff, with me) and they have a really good brunch!

Light Horse Tavern - 199 Washington St., 201-946-2028

Other:
The Green Cow - 34 Greene St., 201-434-1547
(this is a retail market plus they have sandwiches, breakfast, salad, etc)

Fat Burger - 286 Washington St., 201-332-2244
(fast food but really good hamburgers)

Vu (at the Harborside Hyatt) - 2 Exchange Place, 201-469-1234
(amazing views of NYC from the restaurant)

Jersey City - recent developments

Article in todays New York Times regarding Port Liberte in Jersey City,
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/27/realestate/27njzo.html.

Also, I received an invitation from K.Honanian to visit them this week
in Jersey City to learn more about their Paulus Hook project.
As a realtor, its important to keep up with what is happening
in this market in order to provide my clients with the most updated information.

The Paulus Hook area is a very popular waterfront area. To learn more about the neighborhood, you can visit this website - http://www.paulushook.org/.
Last year, my husband & I made a map of Hudson County and did a lot of research prior to hiring a graphic artist to help to design the map. While exploring Jersey City, we really got to know the Paulus Hook area and we discovered some wonderful places to eat. In my next post, I will list some of these restaurants. If you'd like to see our map, you can visit www.marcianolawoffice.com.

Fun Facts

The annual Macys parade studio is located in Hoboken. In 1969, they moved this studio to Hoboken in a former Tootsie Roll Factory. The one-of-a kind floats are constructed here and they are engineered to collapse to a smaller size to enable them to be transported through the Lincoln Tunnel for the parade.

The first Macys Christmas parade was held on November 27, 1924.

Happy Thanksgiving!
