Union City is bordered on the south by Jersey City, on the north by West New York and North Bergen, on the west by North Bergen, and on the east by Weekhawken. It doesn't offer waterfront property on the Hudson River but it does have spectacular views of the river and the New York City skyline. The easternmost streets of Union City in particular Mountain River and Palisade Avenue have some of the most impressive views of the NYC skyline.
Union City was incorporated in 1925 and was a result of the merger of West Hoboken and Union Hill. There is a lot of recent development going on in Union City, especially on Park Avenue and many of the bordering streets. I recently invested in a small condo on 36th Street and feel there is still a lot of room for appreciation in this area. You are starting to see more stores and restaurants open up. If you haven't been to the Park Avenue Bar and Grill yet, you should definitely check this out. It has lovely views of NYC from their rooftop and the restaurant itself has great food as well as "valet" parking!
I also had a closing yesterday with a buyer who purchased a brand new, beautiful 3-family home on 19th Street, right near the Weehawken border. He is actually going to be renting 2 of the apartments for a great price. If you know anyone who might be interested they can contact me, Judy Marciano, licensed NJ Realtor at Empire Realty Group 201.792.8300. These apartments are both 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, terrace off master bedroom, central air, granite, stainless steel, hardwood floors and a block away from the bus to NYC. The one on the top floor has views of NYC. The landlord is asking $2100 for one and$2300 for the other. Garage parking is available for an extra monthly fee. Both are available immediately.
