Hoboken and the Macys Thanksgiving Parade

All the floats and balloons for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade are designed and constructed in Hoboken (this has been going on since 1969, in a former Tootsie Roll factory). One of the challenges of making them in Hoboken is ensuring that they will fit thru the Lincoln Tunnel. They are engineered to collapse into smaller sizes in order to do this, so they can be moved to NYC the night before the Parade.
