Our guest speaker this week at The Hoboken Rotary was Jaclyn Cherubini, Executive Director, on behalf of the Hoboken Homeless Shelter. Someone asked Jaclyn how the state of the economy is affecting the shelter & she said that they are receiving less donations. In light of this & the upcoming holidays, Empire Realty is organizing a food drive for the shelter. Last Thanksgiving, our company received bags & bags of food & necessities from our clients which were desperately needed & appreciated. So again this year, from November 8th through the 24th, we are collecting. You can drop off at our office at 407 Washington Street or contact me & we will arrange pick up, jmarciano@empiregroup.com. They are in most need of the following: coffee, sugar, rice, cereal, disposable plates, napkins, cups,plastic utensils, laundry detergent and toiletries. With the help of you & other members of our community, they are trying to end homelessness one person at a time. They shelter 50 people nightly, serve 200 meals daily and provide support services. So far this year, 111 of their homeless guests have moved from the street to the shelter to their own homes! A big shout out to Jaclyn and her crew.
