Another Hoboken tradition....Once again, it is time for the annual feast honoring the Madonna dei Martiri. If you have not experienced this before, it is really a beautiful tradition that is worth seeing. On Saturday, an 800 lb statue of the Madonna processes through Hoboken from St. Francis Church to Pier A and the Hudson River. The procession itself is from 1-4pm and when it reaches Pier A, it will be placed on a boat and float on the Hudson River blessing all the boats and ships. It is expected to return to Hoboken by about 7:30pm. In the meantime there are all kinds of festivities going on from cannoli eating contests to fireworks. This upcoming feast originated in Italy in the town of Molfetta.
